Visit the oldest preserved early Renaissance building in the city, built between 1516 and 1520. As one of the few buildings, the church was not destroyed by a large-scale fire at the end of the 19th century. It impresses with its high gabled roof covered with shingles from the 16th century and a rare altar from Lucas Cranach’s workshop. A unique building that has no analogues on the Czech and Saxon sides, a rural-type church and a silent witness to the history of the Jáchymov Valley, is looking forward to your visit.

Anniversary of the liberation of the Svatava (Zwodau) camp
On May 7, 79 years have passed since the liberation of the women’s labor camp in Svatava near Sokolov. It was the largest working branch of the Flossenbürg concentration camp and you can remember its liberation by the American army 11. 5. from 15:00 directly at the site of the former camp.
A new information panel will be introduced, reminding the eventful history of the place.
Historian and pedagogue Vladimír Bružeňák will guide visitors around the sites of the former camp. Those present will remember not only those who were interned in the Svatava camp, but also the women who reached Svatava during the death marches. More than 150 of them died here from exhaustion or due to illness.
