Sigma’s second league reserve is experiencing its spring fairy tale. After the winter break, it has lost only once, and thanks to the regular collection of three-point victories, it has already moved to third place in the FORTUNA: NATIONAL LEAGUE and at the same time within range of second. The 20-year-old Matěj Mikulenka helped her to the last triumph in the direct fight for third place with Táborsk with the only goal of the match.

“It was a difficult match, but we were ready for it. We knew that Táborsko is an excellent team with huge offensive power. On the other hand, we also knew that they had some gaps in defense and we wanted to exploit them. And it succeeded. We won 1:0 and added important points to the table,” this 20-year-old fighter, who scored his fifth goal of the season, briefly evaluated the course of the match.

He achieved this in the 58th minute and it must be said that after a beautiful action. Mikulenka ran with the ball in front of the goal, where he got rid of the defender, ran to the left and with a subsequent shot sent the ball to the post and into the counter movement of goalkeeper Pastornický.

“Spáča (captain Jiří Spáčil) passed to me, but I didn’t catch the ball and thought I would have to take action. However, I was able to fight it out and somehow the way there opened up for me. So I took it upon myself. I had in my head that I would try to pass it to someone, but in the end I shot and the ball went between the legs of one of the players and then it kind of jumped in front of the goalkeeper. So I had a bit of luck. I’m glad for that,” he described the key moment.

Olomouc Béčko is currently experiencing its undoubtedly best historical moments. Since the beginning of spring, they have lost only once, beating the leader from Dukla Prague, they did not lose a single point during April, and May began with another win over an opponent striving for at least a playoff for the top competition.

“We are satisfied, thanks to which we are also able to go to training sessions. The atmosphere here is also excellent. A lot of young players are also involved. When they come, we take them together and explain to them what they have to play. Even if someone comes from A, they will be integrated right away. In this respect, it really works for us. And of course I can’t forget the role of coach Janotka, the biggest thanks goes to that,” Mikulenka described the current atmosphere in the cabin.

And soon it can easily be even one step better. In the table, the reserve from Olomouc is in third place, only one single point behind the second Vyškov, which, however, tends to lose in the spring. In the last round, he even lost on the pitch to Viktoria Žižkov, who was fighting for the rescue. Already tomorrow, Tomáš Janotka’s men will go to the pitch of the seventh Vlašimi, and the South Moravians, who are not quite in form, will host the erratic Jihlava. Second place is up in the air.

“Our goal is to finish in third place and the results of others play into our cards. But second place would be great,” says Matěj Mikulenka, adding in conclusion: “I have to say that the successful winter training in Turkey helped us a lot. We had tough matches there with foreign teams instead of staying at home and playing against those which we meet all the time. I also want to thank the management for that.”
