PRAGUE – Two men who stole the wallet of another visitor to a café bar got away with more than sixty thousand crowns. The incident took place in the second half of April, when a fifty-four-year-old man lost a significant amount of money during a business meeting.

According to the police report, the victim met three men in a Prague cafe in Prague 1. “During the meeting, two other men sat down at the next table and noticed the victim’s leather bag hanging on the back of the chair. In an unguarded moment, they took advantage of a momentary inattention, covered the bag with a jacket and subsequently stole cash from the wallet that was inside. Immediately after that, they moved to the bar, where they paid and left to an unknown destination,” said police spokesman Richard Hrdina.

The local police department on Krakovská Street has secured camera recordings that document the entire event in detail. “If you recognize anyone from this pair, or if you have any information that would lead to their capture, please call 158,” Hrdina urges the public. Perpetrators of theft face up to two years behind bars if convicted of the crime of theft.
