In a few days it will be a year since she drove into the opposite direction near Klatov and collided head-on with an oncoming car. A total of six people were injured in the collision, including two little girls, and a rescue helicopter had to be flown to the scene.

Her 71-year-old grandmother suffered such serious injuries that she later succumbed to them in hospital. Now the young woman from Kdyna na Domažlicka is facing another punishment. He will stand before the court in Klatovy, where he will confess to manslaughter. She faces up to six years in prison, but in similar cases, suspended sentences supplemented with a driving ban are usually imposed.
The accident happened last year on the afternoon of May 27 on the main route from Pilsen to Klatov, on a straight and clear section in Štěpánovice. “I was driving in the direction of Klatovy when the lady driving in front of me in a Škoda suddenly drove in the opposite direction and collided with a Volvo driving to Pilsen. Fortunately, I was able to brake,” a direct participant in the accident said at the time. According to the police’s conclusions, the young woman drove in the opposite direction either due to microsleep or inattention. She explained it herself by saying that before the collision, her grandmother unexpectedly shouted at her, which scared her. She did not rule out that she could have even interfered with the proceedings.

The collision of her Škoda Scala with an oncoming Volvo XC60 was very hard. None of the participants escaped uninjured, one person even had to be cut out of the car by the firemen. Among other things, girls aged two and four ended up in the care of rescuers. The older one fared worse, she even had fractures. But the woman’s grandmother, who, according to the conclusion of the criminologists, was to blame for the collision, suffered the worst. The senior woman had broken ribs, injured internal organs and lumbar vertebrae. After four weeks in the hospital, she died of blood poisoning, which was the result of severe injuries to internal organs.
The woman will thus confess to manslaughter by negligence.
A total of 27 people died in accidents in the Pilsen region last year. Another 89 were seriously injured and 1,699 slightly.
