The Czech para-hockey players already knew before the last duel in the group that they were certain to advance to the semi-finals. It was a big advantage, as the opponent was Canada, who went into the game with a score of 29-0. But the Czechs at least managed to slow it down, falling 1:5.

It didn’t take long for Canada to open the scoring. After four minutes of the game, Tyler McGregor was able to get through after a nice combination.

Just before the end of the first period, however, Filip Veselý managed to get through with a bomb into the top corner, which could have completely scalded the Canadians, but as the start of the middle act showed, the steam in the cabin cooled down.

After eleven seconds, McGregor won again, in a few seconds Dunn won thanks to a power play and the fate of the match was more or less decided. All the more so when the Czechs did not convert their chances and Canada managed to score two more goals by the end of the period. But one was not recognized, so we went to the cabins with a score of 1:4.

In the third period, the Czech team could not resist more, James Dunn closed the match with his team’s fifth goal.

In Saturday’s semi-final, the Czech Republic will face the United States.

Filip Veselý for parahockey.cz after the match with Japan: “Unfortunately, it didn’t work out, we got two quick goals in the second period, and that probably broke us. It will be a very difficult match with the Americans, they are the favorites for a long time, I don’t know how to prepare for it. We must mainly convert chances.”
