Love is like peace, we have to fight for it, declared Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smér) at Bratislava’s Slavín, where his government honored Victory Day over fascism. On this occasion, they released white doves. This caused very negative feedback on the Czech internet. Some describe Fic’s cabinet as despair or a tragedy for the Slovak nation and condemn the gesture.

Description: Robert Fico released doves of peace on Victory Day together with members of his government

World War II ended 79 years ago. Prime Minister Robert Fico came together with representatives of the government and parliament to honor the memory of the fallen at Bratislava’s Slavín. The commemorative event began with a flyover of three Black Hawk helicopters and ended with the symbolic release of white doves of peace.

The actions of Fico’s government on Victory Day were subjected to sharp criticism by Czech journalists and politicians.

Journalist Vojtěch Berger mentioned that Ľuboš Blaha, the first vice-chairman of the Slovak ruling party Smér-SD and of the Slovak parliament, then went on an interview with the Russian state television Rossija 1. “‘Bratislava, the city of peace…’ Fico and spol. they released doves on Slavína. Ľuboš Blaha probably immediately went to an interview with Russian state TV,” he wrote on the X social network.

Cafe owner Lukáš Valenta addressed Fico’s cabinet and declared that it was a national tragedy. “The tragedy of the Slovak nation in one video. Doves of peace stuffed in a fan box “liberated” by a trio of bandits Fic, Blaha and Blanár,” he described the video in his own words.

Former child actress Michaela Kudláčková described the release of doves by members of Fico’s government as desperation. “Well man… I can’t imagine anything more desperate than what they put on. And it is with such respect and dignity that they approach everything, including peace. Appalling! Primitive… …that’s probably not possible,” she wrote indignantly.

“I find the ritual of releasing doves of peace as disgusting as pulling pigeons out of their noses,” said user Radek Pelikán.

“Slovaks keep complaining that we Czechs are condescending towards them and then they do this?” threatened another commenter.

“This is horrible. Those depravities with the use of poor animals as props for deviant actions, used for self-presentation or other depraved actions, must stop,” Lucie Amálka wrote in horror. “Where is Marta Kubišová when we need her!!!” Lucie Amálka called after the woman described as a symbol of the Velvet Revolution.

Even Jan Bartek did not spare the current Slovak government set with a sharp expression: “The representatives of Slovakia are disgusting, dull, Putin’s uncles,” he remarked in disgust.

The Králové passer-by profile also poked fun at the representatives of the Slovak government, who focused on the details: “You can tell the culture of a nation by the box for transporting the dove of peace,” he remarked amusedly.

Populism has no borders, debater Ivoš commented on the symbolic release of doves. And he ranked among those who did not forgive vulgarisms: “But the artistic impression was not successful, kokoti,” he did not take napkins in the evaluation.

“That’s really scary,” https://twitter.com/TamcaBard/status/1788193929902297437?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR05x8dpNJZZIyA2y1mdNb4OvNSvYo1cHBUXX9QJ1VLqf5nS2ERiseESgEw_aem_ARJPmEnPOTti8r9IJ_leg-dureRYkpn3GFwxFWTQQZK0a2JFED_lb3rgXToqqa_xFmSmfD48Yc6xc3x7CohHOBCF then Tamara Šamánková.

The majority expressing these views make it visible on their account that they are big supporters of Ukraine.

As part of this commemorative event, Fico also emphasized that Slovakia and Czechoslovakia were liberated by the Red Army and soldiers of the Romanian army. According to him, this creates a strong bond between the people of Slovakia and the people of the former Soviet Union. The prime minister rejected the distortion of history and repeatedly stated that the Red Army of the former Soviet Union had the greatest share in the defeat of fascism and the victory in the Second World War.
