Trump’s 18-year-old son Barron is heading into politics, he is a delegate for Florida

The Florida Republican Party on Wednesday night selected former President Donald Trump’s youngest son as one of the state’s delegates to the Republican National Convention. That’s according to a copy of the results published by Politico.

Florida Republicans also selected three other Trump children as delegates, including Eric Trump as delegation chairman, Donald Trump Jr. and Tiffany Boulos (née Trump) and her husband. However, the youngest son of the former president has not yet been politically active. He just celebrated his eighteenth birthday less than two months ago and still hasn’t finished high school. But a Trump campaign official said Barron is “very interested in the political process in our country.”

Barron made headlines last month at the start of his father’s New York criminal trial in connection with hush payments to an adult film star before the 2016 election. According to the NBC website, lawyers for the former president argued that he should be granted a break in the trial to was able to attend Barron Trump’s graduation at Oxbridge Academy in suburban West Palm Beach on Friday, May 17. Judge Juan Merchan agreed.

The delegate convention will be held in Milwaukee from July 15 to 18. “We are fortunate to have a great group of civic leaders, elected officials and members of the Trump family working together as part of Florida’s delegation to the 2024 Republican National Convention,” Florida Republican Chairman Evan Power said in an emailed statement to The Guardian. The Trump family is expected to have considerable influence over the Southeastern state’s delegation.

But the Politico server points out that the list of delegates also includes personalities who supported Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the Republican primaries, including Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody or Florida Senate President-designate Ben Albritton.

While four of the Republican presidential candidate’s five children are involved in high politics, his daughter Ivanka announced last November that she does not plan to participate in her father’s re-election campaign or otherwise be politically active.

“While I will always love and support my father, I will do so outside the political arena in the future. I am grateful to have had the privilege of serving the American people, and I will always be proud of the many accomplishments of our administration,” she was quoted as saying at the time by US CNN, which recalled that Trump’s daughter became a full-time adviser to the president in March 2017 after informally advising to his father during the first two months of his reign.

Former US President Donald Trump was married a total of three times. Donald, Ivanka and Eric were born in marriage with Zlín native Ivana Trumpová, daughter Tiffany in marriage with actress Marla Maplesová. Trump’s current wife, Melania, has one son, the aforementioned eighteen-year-old Barron.
