The clients of the lawyer prosecuted for embezzlement filed a criminal complaint with the chamber

The clients of the prosecuted lawyer Hana Suková filed a criminal complaint with the Czech Bar Association. State associations of lawyers suspect intentional or negligent money laundering, or other criminal acts in connection with the execution and control of attorney deposits. Zuzana Reyne, the representative of the victims, told ČTK about this on Thursday. The police are prosecuting Suková for embezzlement of 153 million crowns.

“The last hope to come to an agreement and find a common solution to the situation, i.e. amicably, has gone out. The criminal complaint was filed on 5/9/2024, addressed to the High Prosecutor’s Office,” said Reyne. According to her, the aggrieved clients were “disillusioned” with the seminar that was held in the Chamber of Deputies last week on the issue of attorney deposits.

“We recently learned from the speech of the secretary of the Bar Association, Petr Čáp, that the Chamber considers the current way of securing attorney deposits to be satisfactory and that it does not see its failures as a systemic problem. We heard how he continues to trivialize embezzlement with the rhetoric of individual failures,” wrote Reyne.

“The main thing that is completely disappointing is that the bar association in its press releases constantly talks about the will to change the law and restore clients’ trust in the security of attorney deposits. Instead, it was clear from the presentation at the seminar that they are trying to throw any proposed changes off the table.” she added that legal custody of money was, is and remains a dangerous tool.
