Together with the traveling bell ringer, the young bell ringers also took on a difficult task, namely to organize the biggest professional event for their colleagues not only from the Czech Republic. The meeting of the bell ringers of the Czech Republic will be held in Pilsen on the first Saturday in May 2025.
Pilsen was successfully represented by two young bell ringers, Liborek and Bruno, at this year’s Meeting of Ringers of the Czech Republic, which was held outside Prague for the first time on April 30. As one of the youngest bell ringers in the country, Liborek was even included in the main program with his lecture.
“I was very happy to be able to see so many bell ringers together with my own eyes and to tell about our journey bells and about the internet encyclopedia of bells that my dad and I are preparing” said Liborek.
Pilsen bell ringers didn’t just come to listen to the event, where more than 70 bell ringers from 21 cities gathered. “Already on the way in the car, Liborek and his dad and I agreed that next year we will organize the event in Pilsen, because we have something to show here and we know that we will prepare a great program,” adds Bruno.
After the great success in Holice, it is expected that a record number of bell ringers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Germany will arrive in Pilsen. In addition, Liborek and Bruno want to remind, not only the people of Pilsen, that in 2025 the bells in the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew to celebrate 10 years since they were hung in the tower as part of the Pilsen European Capital of Culture 2015 project.
The event will take place on Saturday 3 May 2025 in Pilsen and will also be open to the general public. The organizers plan to prepare a full-day program with expert lectures, an excursion to selected bell towers, a mass for bells and bell ringers and other accompanying program.
