VSETÍN – The management of Vsetín honored the memory of the victims of World War II at the monument in Jasenice and on this occasion took it over as property. The monument was then consecrated by Bishop Antonín Basler.

The monument was made to honor the memory of the war victims from among the workers of Zbrojovka Vsetín and grew up in the park in front of the administration building of the then national enterprise. After the demise of Zbrojovka, the building and land were acquired by businessman Karel Peltsarszký, who maintained the monument for a long time and financed it from his own pocket. Due to production and traffic on the adjacent roads, the management decided to move the monument to a more dignified place. Since last year, it has been standing on land at the end of the cycle path to Jasenice, where in the past the railway siding leading from the center of Vsetín to the Jasenice industrial area ended. “At the beginning of May, the monument became the property of the city, which will take care of its maintenance. On this occasion, Bishop Antonín Basler consecrated it,” said Mayor Jiří Čunek.
