Sparta won the regular part of the football league by four points ahead of Slavia

Prague – Defending champions Sparta won the regular season of the first football league by four points ahead of Slavia. In the 30th round, the Spartans won 4:1 in Olomouc, their Prague rival won 2:1 in Hradec Králové. The third-placed Plzeň loses 14 points to the first place, after a 3:0 home win over Teplice, however, they gained confidence that they will not finish lower.

From sixth place, Slovácko progressed to the group for the title, which drew 2:2 in České Budějovice and, thanks to Ondřej Mihálik’s equalizing goal in the 83rd minute, kept a one-point lead over Liberec. In addition to Sparta and Slavia, the team from Uherské Hradiště will also play against Pilsen, Ostrava and Mladá Boleslav in the five-round extension in May.

In Olomouc, captain Ladislav Krejčí scored twice for the guests in the first half, after the change of sides, Veljko Birmančevič and Jan Kuchta added more goals for Sparta. Substitute Jáchym Šíp made the save for Sigma. Birmančevič scored the fourteenth time of the season and came close behind the leaders of the scoring table Václav Jurečka from Slavia and Pavel Šulec from Pilsen.

Slavia coach Jindřich Trpišovský improved the coaching record for the number of wins in the history of a separate league. In Hradec, he scored his 192nd victory and one triumph over Pavel Vrbo.

Plzeň beat Teplice 3:0 and repeated the result from Wednesday’s cup semi-final with Zlín. The West Bohemians are thus certain that they will play at least the 3rd preliminary round of the Europa League next season. The match was decided after a change of sides, when Tomáš Chorý scored twice and substitute Matěj Vydra once.

In the group for the title and also the six-member group for the rescue, the teams will play against each other once, the previous points gain remains. The last team will be relegated, the 14th and 15th teams in the final standings will play a tie with opponents from the second league.

Bohemians 1905 will enter the rescue group in the best starting position, followed by Jablonec and Pardubice. The play-off bars after the 30th round belong to Karviná and Zlín, while České Budějovice is most at risk of relegation. Karviná left last place thanks to a 1:0 win in Zlín, Slovakian striker Martin Regáli secured it for the first league newcomer with a goal in the 12th minute.

In the group for Europe, the clubs from 7th to 10th place will compete in a knockout system to see who will play the fifth team in the final standings for participation in the preliminary round of the European Conference League. The semi-final pairs are Liberec and Teplice and Olomouc and Hradec Králové.
