The commander of the Ukrainian army, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reiterated on Sunday that the situation on the frontline is getting worse for the Ukrainian defenders. In a detailed summary of the frontline situation on social media, he credited Russia with “tactical successes” in at least three sectors.

“The situation at the front has intensified,” Syrskyj said in a post on the Telegram communication platform. “The situation was changing dynamically – in some areas the enemy had tactical successes, and in some areas we managed to improve the tactical position of our units,” he added.

According to Syrsky, the most difficult situation for Ukrainian troops is west of Avdijivka and Marjinka, where Russian forces are trying to break through in the direction of Pokrovske and Kurachov.

“Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have moved to new lines west of Berdych, Semenivka and Novomykhaylivka (…) Overall, the enemy achieved certain tactical successes in these areas, but did not manage to gain operational superiority,” said the commander of the Ukrainian army, adding that Ukrainian troops by retreating, they try to maintain their fighting ability.

According to him, the Russians are also attacking the front sector near the city of Kupjansk in the Kharkiv region – they had partial success near the villages of Stemachivka and Berestov, but the advance was stopped. There is also a tense situation near the town of Časiv Jar and Kliščijivka near Bakhmut.

Syrskyj already stated on Saturday that the situation at the front for the Ukrainian defenders tends to worsen, which, according to him, was informed by Ukraine’s western allies. He also pointed to the large number of Russian air strikes on the country’s energy infrastructure in recent weeks. According to him, Ukraine also urgently needs additional missiles, ammunition, military equipment and combat equipment.
