Check out the footage of how 19-year-old Czech snowboarder Jakub Hroneš was the first in the world to jump a triple somersault from the railing last week.

He succeeded in a unique trick in Špindlerův Mlýn, where a special 10.5 meter long railing was installed for his experiments.

Trick Hroneš starts driving forward with the opposite leg than is natural for him. As he steps onto the rail, he turns 90 degrees, drives face down to impact, bounces off the rail, does a triple somersault, and at the end adds a 90 degree spin to the left and lands in the direction of his natural front foot.

So it is a triple somersault with three and a half turns around each other.

“The hardest thing about this trick is its technicality, because bouncing off something iron and turning three times over your head and falling back into the snow is something completely different from bouncing off the snow,” Hroneš described.

“These tricks are not done very often, because finding obstacles of this type and calculating how it all works is extremely difficult,” explained the young rider.

At the age of 16, he mastered this trick on a jump, i.e. with a bounce from the snow, and immediately considered trying it from the railing as well. He tried last year, but didn’t succeed then.

“At first I was disappointed it didn’t work out, but in retrospect I’m glad I didn’t go ahead at the time,” he breathed.

He said he learned from a few things, he learned to work better with the number of attempts, energy and concentration.

“We also changed the place this year, prepared a longer impact, so I had more space in the air. The rail had a larger radius at the end. I think all these aspects led to the fact that it was successful this year, and I am very happy,” he praised you are Hroneš

Instead of classic snowboard waxing, he used lard. “On my first attempts, after jumping on the railing, all the edges came down. But after two days of training, I was sure that I knew how it works, and then it was just a matter of concentrating on the correct execution of the trick,” said the Czech representative in freestyle snowboarding .

He was happy that he performed the unique trick in Špindlerův Mlýn, where he comes from. “It means the most to me that I learned to snowboard here on the slopes. I can’t imagine a better place to ride than here at the pass in St. Peter,” he said.
