• Both phones will be officially unveiled in mid-May
• There are not many changes, the most important is the new 19.5:9 aspect ratio

Conservative phone lovers, take note. The very first renders of new smartphones from Sony have leaked onto the Internet. The Japanese giant will not use an innovative approach this year, but fans will certainly be interested in the fact that the aspect ratio of the display will change quite fundamentally for both the Xperia 1 VI and the Xperia 10 VI.

Xperia 1 VI and 10 VI: almost everything as before

Renowned leaker @evleaks in collaboration with the Android Headlines server revealed the design of the new Xperia 1 VI and 10 VI. As expected, the new generation will offer mostly the same design as its predecessors. At the back, a vertically arranged photo module on an otherwise clean back, angular sides and on the front again a display with a chin and forehead. So we cannot expect a shot again this year.

According to the leaked renders, it looks like the premium Xperia will be available in black, dark green and beige variants. As for the display, however, there have been major changes. Instead of the previously popular “noodle” ratio of 21:9, the screen will have a conventional aspect ratio of 19.5:9. This means that the overall form factor of Xperia phones will change to a large extent.

That’s right, the more affordable Xperia 10 VI will also get the new aspect ratio. Interested parties will see one more change, although not for the better. The set of cameras has been reduced to two, and the telephoto lens, which last year enabled 2x optical zoom, lost its place. The photo module on the back now rises stylishly from the back of the phone, similar to the Samsung Galaxy A53.

Official press renders have leaked for the cheaper of the pair of Xperias. Thanks to this, we learned that the phone will have a 3.5mm audio jack and that it will arrive in three colors: black, white and light blue. While the Xperia 1 VI will feature aluminum and glass, the Xperia 10 VI will be entirely made of plastic.

Price and availability

The official presentation will take place in the middle of the month, specifically on May 17. But the Japanese probably won’t have anything to surprise, because a few days ago, the alleged price of the Xperia 1 VI also leaked from Taiwan. It should cost 39,990 Taiwanese dollars, i.e. about 34 thousand crowns including VAT. The price will be plus or minus the same as the previous generation.

However, we still have to wait for this information regarding the Xperia 10 V. It is worth adding that a stylish tactical case with a stand will also be offered for both phones.
