No more import surcharges. Google has officially headed to the Czech Republic with its hardware

This week, Google unveiled the new Pixel 8a smartphone, which Novinky.cz reported directly on the day of the premiere. It is an interesting mid-range model that represents a cheap ticket to the mobile world of artificial intelligence (AI).

However, with the premiere of this smartphone, the American company also decided to expand the offer of its official store to other countries, including the Czech Republic. In addition, Google has established partnerships with other domestic entities that also officially offer the device – in addition to the O2 operator, we are talking about, for example, Alza and Datart stores.

A similar business model has been successfully practiced in the Czech Republic by competitor Apple for several years. He offers his news through his own online store and then through partner stores.

In addition, of course, there are still merchants who import Apple products into the country on their own – so it is not primarily devices intended for the Czech market. Users may encounter problems with complaints or limited support from the manufacturer.

Apple has been offering the same concept as Google now for several years. In the Czech Republic, it runs its own online store and, with the help of official partners, also sells equipment in domestic brick-and-mortar stores.

On the other hand, this is not a threat with official distribution, which of course does not apply only to Apple, but also to devices from Google and other manufacturers. Ultimately, the customers themselves benefit from official distribution.

For example, Google offers a superior warranty of seven years of software and security updates for the eight-series phones. As part of the official distribution, Google offers an additional credit of up to CZK 7,000 for purchases in the Google Store, or a straight discount at the seller. But it only applies to orders made before July 3.

Three phones and accessories

Three phones are now officially available in the Czech Republic. The price of the Pixel 8a starts at 14,490 CZK, you can get the Pixel 8 from 20,990 CZK and the Pixel 8 Pro from 28,490 CZK. While the two previously introduced eights are already in stock in stores, the new Pixel 8a will not officially go on sale until May 14 – pre-orders are currently open.

Google will also bundle three months of YouTube Premium, Google One and six months of Fitbit Premium with the new Pixel 8a. With the Pixel 8 or 8 Pro, in addition to the benefits listed above, they will also receive an additional three months of Google One services.

In addition to smartphones of the eight series, mobile accessories or Pixel Buds A-series headphones also appear in the official distribution. Those who are interested will cost CZK 2,690.
