The most important event associated with Maundy Thursday is the Last Supper, during which Jesus Christ celebrated the Passover with his disciples. During this event, Jesus prepared and shared with them the bread and wine that symbolized his body and blood. This gesture was the basis of the Christian Eucharist, the sacrament served during the Holy Mass.

Another significant act during the Last Supper was Jesus washing the feet of his disciples. This symbolic act of humility and service is still practiced by some churches during Maundy Thursday.

Maundy Thursday has its roots in the biblical events described in the New Testament, especially in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, which depict the Last Supper of Jesus Christ. In many Christian churches Maundy Thursday is associated with Holy Mass, during which the Last Supper is remembered.

The color green, which gave Maundy Thursday its name, symbolizes hope and new life. This symbol is often associated with nature waking up to life in spring, which is also reminiscent of the period of renewal and resurrection associated with Easter.

In some countries, it is also customary to serve special dishes associated with this day, such as traditional bread and wine, to commemorate the Last Supper.
