Thursday, April 28, 2024 will probably go down in Xiaomi history as one of the most important days. The Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer, which is known mainly for its activities in the field of smartphones, officially released its first electric cars during today’s press presentation. These were presented in more detail for the first time at the end of last year, when engineers revealed a number of technical details and a wide range of product photos were published on the company’s social networks.
Xiaomi has not been sparing with strong words before, and its CEO has clearly stated its extremely ambitious plans for the future. During the former conference, he declared that Xiaomi will develop into the top five car manufacturers in the world in the next 15 to 20 years, and also let it be known that he intends create a “dream car” comparable to models from Porsche and Tesla.
During today’s presentation, Lei Jun stated that the Xiaomi SU7 series of electric cars definitively closes the spiral of the Man x Car x Home ecosystem. The cars were tested in 300 Chinese cities, covering more than 5.4 million kilometers – more than enough to circle the planet Earth 135 times.
This time too, the boss of Xiaomi talked about the ideal of a dream car, which, according to him, should have the latest technologies and the strongest driving characteristics. The SU7 model is supposed to be according to his words the most sophisticated vehicle under 500,000 yuan (1.6 million CZK in conversion).
Xiaomi SU7 boasts a sporty and very aerodynamic design with a low drag factor. The manufacturer has previously revealed the vehicle’s three basic colors – Aqua Blue, Verdant Green and Mineral Gray – and Lei Jun said that according to the first visitors to the Chinese stores where the electric car is on display, the car looks even better in reality than in the photos.
Today, however, it is officially revealed six more color variants, from which everyone can choose. It thus joins the original trio white, orange, purple, black and two new shades of blue.

And the fun doesn’t end here, because the interior will also be available in four different colors – Xiaomi intends to offer it in white, red, purple and black.
Today, Xiaomi described the interior in much more detail than ever before. The car, which can accommodate up to five people on five seats made of high-quality materials, is proud, for example a comprehensive speaker system with support for Dolby Atmos surround technology, a rear trunk with a volume of 517 liters and a front storage space under the hood with a volume of 105 liters or special points for clever attachment of a holder for a mobile phone or car camera (these are the red circled “buttons” in one of the images below). Lei Jun further highlighted the high amount of storage spaces, cup/thermos holders, practical flashlight holder, and even 4.6 liter refrigerator.
