Christians are being urged to pray for the families of the 45 people who died in a bus accident in South Africa.

The group was on their way from Botswana to attend an Easter conference organized by the Zion Christian Church in Limpopo Province. According to local authorities, the bus plunged 50 meters into a ravine and caught fire.

The Premier news portal reports that the only survivor is an eight-year-old girl who is currently hospitalized with unspecified injuries.

Limpopo Provincial Premier Stan Mathabatha urged drivers to remain vigilant and take extra care, especially when driving in difficult road conditions. “My thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims in Botswana and South Africa who are experiencing this unimaginable loss and grief. My deepest condolences and sincere condolences to all those affected by this tragedy. May they find strength and comfort in this difficult time.”

An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the accident.

Zion Christian Church, based in Moria, attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from South Africa and neighboring countries to its Easter gatherings every year. This year was the first Easter pilgrimage since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
