On Tuesday, meteorologists again announced that more snowfall will arrive in the Czech Republic today thanks to a pressure trough advancing from the northern Mediterranean to the northeast. Up to 10 centimeters of snow may fall in the east of the country.

The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) did not issue any warning. On social media, X said on Tuesday that the amount of snow is quite uncertain because the models do not match the forecasts due to the uncertain location of the center of the low pressure.

The Aladin model predicted yesterday that around 5 centimeters of snow will fall between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in the eastern half of the territory, especially from higher elevations, and around 10 centimeters in the Jeseníky Mountains.

“During Wednesday morning and in the morning, snow will gradually spread from the south in the south-eastern half of the territory, or rain and snow will fall, in locations above 500 m, in the east of Moravia and Silesia above 1000 m. The precipitation will gradually become more permanent and abundant, and the snowflakes will “They will move to positions from 600 m during the day, temporarily even lower during more intense precipitation. Later in the afternoon and evening, the precipitation will weaken from the southwest,” the meteorologists said.

In positions above 700 meters, up to 10 cm of new snow can fall, which will mostly melt. “We expect frost from an altitude above 1,000 m, in lower places the temperatures will remain above zero, so the snow will be wet and heavy and can break tree branches, in the mountains the passability of roads can deteriorate,” they added.
