The Stellantis concern interrupted its activities in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine and left the country. He had previously admitted that he had “lost control” of the activities of the Russian branch.

“On March 27, serial assembly of Citroën C5 Aircross crossovers began at the Kaluga plant,” reports Automotive Technologies. “The cars will appear in showrooms of official Citroën dealers in May 2024,” the company said.

Reuters already wrote in February that Automotive Technologies imported at least 42 car kits for the assembly of the Citroёn C5 Aircross model to the Kaluga plant last December. The kits were manufactured in China by the Chinese company Dongfeng Motor Group.

Stellantis works with the Chinese

Automaker Stellantis said last month it posted a loss of 144 million euros (CZK 3.6 billion) due to the abandonment of its Russian operations. It reiterated that after December 31, 2023, it concluded that it had “lost control of its entities in Russia.”

Dongfeng and Stellantis, the world’s third-largest carmaker by revenue, operate a joint venture in China. Through it, Dongfeng can manufacture and sell Stellantis cars in China.
