On Wednesday, we wrote that as part of the new American aid, ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometers will also arrive in Ukraine. A day later it is no longer true. These missiles are already in Ukraine and the Ukrainians allegedly used them twice.
The Americans secretly supplied them to the Ukrainian army a few weeks ago. US President Joe Biden decided on it in February, they arrived in April. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan admitted this on Wednesday, saying that they did not release this information for obvious reasons. He confirmed that the Americans will send more missiles, but it is unclear how many the Ukrainians will receive in total.
“They will have their meaning. But as I’ve said on this stage … there’s no silver bullet,” Sullivan described.
Probably the most interesting information is that the Ukrainians used them in two cases. The first is almost certainly last week’s attack on the Dzhankoy air base in Crimea, in which they destroyed the entire battery of the Russian S-400 anti-aircraft system, including the radar.
