From the video taken by the on-board camera of another car, it can be seen that the minister’s sedan, in the footage driving in the opposite direction, most likely entered the intersection on a red light, ToI wrote. The minister’s office said Ben Gvir was conscious and in good condition.

Oncoming car footage shows the minister’s black car slowing down at traffic lights and almost stopping. Soon, however, he starts to accelerate again, drives into an intersection, and another passenger car hits his right side head-on and flips it onto its roof. The minister’s sedan was followed to the intersection by a white SUV, in which the minister’s bodyguard was apparently driving. A pair of men in uniform ran out of the car immediately after the collision.

Ben Gvir is the head of the ultra-nationalist Ocma Yehudit (Jewish Power) party, and has been serving as Minister of National Security since December 2022. In the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he supports the expansion of Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories, he himself is one of the settlers in the West Bank.

He also became famous for his anti-Muslim stances and harsh statements against Israel’s opponents in the Middle East. In recent months, for example, he has said that he considers rocket attacks by the Shiite movement Hezbollah to be a declaration of war and called for a “frantic” response after the massive Iranian air attack on Israel on April 13.
