Fico put his hands to work on Labor Day. Mitrofanov did not breathe it out

--

Robert Fico swapped his suit for a reflective vest and dungarees in which he worked the night shift at an auto parts factory. “During the night shift I was on the belt and had the chance to talk to people, it’s interesting to hear, if I had my hat on I’d take it off in front of these people. Great admiration for the women and men who work in this company that produces extremely important components,” Fico said at the start of a press conference after a night shift at the factory.

He thus showed solidarity with people who work at night: “Take my night shift as proof that I respect these people. It’s supposed to be a show of solidarity from my side to people who work at night even on public holidays,” said Fico, who spent the night at the strip making components for car headlights.

He wants to use his experience in negotiations with employers. “Yesterday evening I also spoke briefly with the management of this company. I openly said that I am a leftist, that I am interested in the share of night work that we have in Slovakia,” he added, adding that Slovakia continues to be the leader in the European Union in terms of the share of night work.

“One could argue that these people earn extra money on holidays, but the few euros they have for extra hours or holidays shows a lot of hard work,” continued Fico.

Robert Fico, who is a lover of sports, especially football, revealed that standing all night on your feet by the belt is no fun. “I train honestly every day, but I have to tell you that I’m as tight as a horse. My whole person hurts. I have to admit that it is a huge physical burden for those people,” said the Slovak Prime Minister.

At the same time, he criticized previous governments for freezing nighttime bonuses. “That was not fair to the employees. We unfroze it again from January 1, 2024,” stated the Prime Minister.

Fico published the recording of the press conference on his Facebook, while in the discussion there a large part of Slovaks appreciate him for his professionalism, humanity and humility, in the Czech Republic they make fun of the Slovak prime minister.

For example, commentator Alexandr Mitrofanov, who hoped that the next time Prime Minister Robert Fico could be the driver of a faecal truck, made a mocking comment: “Next time: driving with shit,” he commented on Fico’s night shift at the factory.

Some then agreed with Mitrofanov in the discussion that “Fico would have more experience with the shit thrower”.

This is not the first time that the Slovak prime minister has dressed up like this. He did so already in November 2017, when he also held the position of Prime Minister, then he had a night shift at a factory near Bratislava. In 2016, he campaigned for the miners to promise them jobs until 2030. In the summer, during his premiere, he regularly aimed for the harvest.
