The mayor of the municipality, Luigi Tedeschi, thoroughly studied the relevant laws, obtained the necessary permits and had a resolution of the municipal council drawn up, which allows the nudist beach of Is Benas to be a place where couples embark on a joint pilgrimage of life.
The impetus for the decision of the village management was the wishes of an engaged couple from Germany who want to get married in Sardinia at the end of the summer. They liked Is Benas, which is one of the six officially permitted nudist beaches in Sardinia. The whole of Italy has 23 of them.
“Sardinia is a true paradise for those who love close contact with nature. And we also want to contribute to the development of active and sustainable tourism,” explained Tedeschi.
His initiative was warmly welcomed by Italian naturist associations, which promote nudism as a lifestyle and organize festivals of followers of naked body culture. “Naturism is not exhibitionism. No one should think that you get married naked and then spread your pictures on social networks. The photos will remain in the circle of family and friends,” said Maurizio Biancotti, spokesperson for the Anita association, according to La Nuova Sardegna newspaper.

He described Tedeschi as an “enlightened” person and expressed the hope that the mayor would attract the attention of the media and public opinion to the project. “We know there will be complaints and many will talk about exhibitionism. But we don’t care: naturism is a very healthy philosophy of life,” said Biancotti, who works as a theologian and religious teacher.
According to Pamela Deiana, president of the Nudiverso association, people will be able to say yes “to live the culture of the naked body by the sea and in the sunshine”. “All you need is a white veil, a bow tie and a bouquet,” she said, according to La Stampa.
