The attack took place in the suburb of Willetton. The boy stabbed his unnamed victim in the back before police shot him dead. The victim is now in hospital. “At this point it appears he acted alone,” state Premier Roger Cook said of the attacker.
The police and intelligence agencies subsequently informed the prime minister of the country, Anthony Albanese, about the incident. “We are a peaceful nation and there is no place for violent extremism in Australia,” the prime minister subsequently commented on the X social network.
