The Albert Endowment Fund ceremoniously handed over financial rewards to charitable organizations that succeeded in the Bertík helps program. The best projects from the Moravian-Silesian region were decided by the customers of the local Albert stores. Bertíci offers a unique opportunity for the public to learn about the activities and specific stories of local organizations that care for children and young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.

“Our customers, to whom we owe a lot of thanks, have supported projects in the Moravian-Silesian region focused on tutoring, meaningful spending of free time, mental health, but also facilitating the future entry into adult life,” explained Marcela Varmužová, member of the board of directors, at the meeting with the organizations Albert Endowment Fund.

The Albert Foundation will distribute 4,000,000 crowns. The public decides on the projects

In each of the four regions in the Moravian-Silesian region, the three best projects selected by experts competed for the favor of customers in the fall. The Albert foundation fund distributed 480,000 crowns between them based on a vote in local Albert stores.

“Every help and every contribution is important for those in need, also as an expression of belonging and encouragement. It is good that private companies are interested in their surroundings and are not indifferent to them. I appreciate the activities of all foundations that try to help and make our society better. I believe that there will be more similar projects in our region,” said Deputy Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region for Education and Sports Stanislav Folwarczny.

Help for children’s homes and Charity

Among the 12 supported organizations in the Bertík helps program are children’s homes from Havířov, Budišov nad Budišovka, Fulnek and Ostrava, Charita from České Těšín and Diakonie ČCK in Ostrava, as well as the organizations Filadelfie, Tutorie, Zájemné sožíží, Eurotopia, Host and Center for Family and social care.

“We will use the funds as a reward for tutors in foster families who take care of the children individually and prepare them for school. The goal of the project is to help these children improve their school results, strengthen their self-worth and support their independence,” explained Soňa Cvešperová from the Ostrava Center for Family and Social Care. Self-confidence support is an important part of the activities of other supported organizations as well.

“Thanks to a grant from the Albert Foundation, 30 children and young people can devote themselves to dancing and artistic development. In addition, the project offers a positive alternative to virtual life on social networks,” explained Simona Reichlová from Coexistence.
