Tree felling restricts traffic on the D10 highway

--

Several hundred trees have to go to the ground. Road workers intervene roughly between the 15th and 40th kilometers, they will gradually move in both directions of the highway.

“The situation with dangerous trees here has worsened dramatically in recent weeks. During the winter season, trees weighed down by wet snow bent over, many of them were waterlogged, and due to gusts of wind, they were partially uprooted,” said directorate spokesman Jan Rýdl.

It is estimated that there are three hundred mostly younger trees with a trunk diameter of up to 25 centimeters. This time, the road workers did not wait for a dendrological report that would confirm the condition of the trees.

“In this case, nature and the weather were faster, so we can’t wait for the report. We have identified trees that are an immediate threat to traffic, and we are also cutting them these days. For the most part, these are pines and birches,” added Jiří Veselý, the spokesperson of the organization.

Traffic on the highway is always reduced to one lane at the felling site and the maximum speed is limited to 80 kilometers per hour. The workplace, which gradually moves, is marked with a light arrow.

“We expect the event to be completed during April,” added Rýdl, the spokesman for the Directorate of Roads and Highways.
