The representative premises of the Villa Pellé gallery in Prague 6 hosted the 19th edition of the Outstanding Teacher of the Municipal District poll. The town hall especially appreciated the hard work of the cantors, but also the creation of teaching and extracurricular activities for children.

,,I see the teaching profession as very demanding and underappreciated in society, and therefore I see it as absolutely essential that the founder appreciate excellent female teachers, excellent teachers, so that they really receive that recognition and that they gain new vigor and enthusiasm for further functioning within sixth grade schools ,” said the deputy mayor of Prague 6 Municipal Council, Mariana Čapková (Prague 6 Sobě).

So far, more than 150 teachers have been awarded by the management of the district in polls. This year, seven more teachers joined them, including Vladimíra Vedralová, a teacher from the Libocká kindergarten.

“It was a huge surprise for me, a nice surprise, but I have to say, honestly, that the recognition of me as an individual is due to a huge amount of work by all my colleagues: teachers, teaching assistants, our cooks and non-teaching staff. Without their cooperation and the atmosphere they create in our kindergarten, I would not be able to stand here as an individual,” described the award-winning teacher from the Libocká kindergarten, Vladimíra Vedralová.

The winners in three categories were selected by a jury appointed from among the members of the Prague 6 District Council and the Committee for Education.

“We receive such nomination letters from school principals, and based on them, the jury then selects the best nominees, and from those, we then select the final seven, those who really, within the scope of their profession, within the scope of their operation, and the above-standard activities that they carry out beyond that normal functioning at school,” added Čapková.

The award ceremony is supported annually by The Kellner Family Foundation, which was founded by the Kellners in 2009.

“Our motto is We are changing society for better quality education, and since the foundation is located in Prague 6, we consider it natural to support this project, because it is a kind of co-creation of the community and has a positive effect on where we move,” said Tereza Bůžková, director of the Foundation The Kellner Family Foundation.
