The man who broke into an antique store in Prague with a large stone in the center of Prague was discovered by the Prague police after several days of searching. A foreigner took jewelry worth millions there and fled abroad. But he made a mistake the moment he returned to Prague. The detectives then detained him directly at the main station.

The antique store in Platnéřská street was robbed by a foreigner on the night of Monday, February 19. He brought two large stones to the door and threw one through the glass door.

“There, with the help of a hammer, he broke a display case, from which he stole over ninety pieces of gold jewelry, among which there were also pieces with diamonds. Immediately after that, he ran away with the loot to an unknown destination, causing almost four and a half million crowns worth of damage with his actions.” a spokesperson described on the website Richard the Hero.

During the search for the thief, the detectives secured camera records, and from them it became clear that he was staying nearby. However, he fled abroad shortly after the crime.

“However, the detectives already knew his identity at that time, so they alerted their foreign colleagues, who greatly helped them in tracking the suspect. After a few days, the man under surveillance set out on his journey again and didn’t confuse the detectives even by the fact that he had traveled to the Czech Republic via three states,” stated the Hero.

As soon as the 31-year-old man got off the train at the main station, detectives arrested him. During interrogation, he then confessed to the crime. During a house search in his native country, foreign colleagues then found part of the loot. It became clear that he also stole in other European cities.

Depending on the amount of damage caused, he faces up to eight years in prison for theft.
