According to Czech counterintelligence, activities focused on organizing pro-Russian initiatives and media campaigns in EU countries were documented, the goal of which was the realization of the Kremlin’s foreign policy intentions, including the weakening of Poland’s position on the international scene, the discrediting of Ukraine and the image of the European Union authorities.

The implemented activities are the result of international cooperation between ABW and a number of European services, coordinated in particular with partners from the Security Information Service, https://twitter.com/biscz/status/1773317040310288772 BIS on social network X. “International cooperation is absolutely key in the current security situation,” said its director Michal Koudelka.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) reminded that the Czech Republic was at the beginning of the whole event. “Our work and efforts lead to the fact that other countries in Europe are also investigating the activities of pro-Russian spy networks and are gradually coming to other serious findings,” https://twitter.com/P_Fiala/status/1773407947508387993 with steps in other states to follow.

“These are sensitive matters, so you will certainly understand that I cannot reveal many details. But I want to underline one thing. The steps we have taken in the last two days are the result of international cooperation, which we started and which we are successfully coordinating. I am proud of that we are the ones who have shown the strength and ability to make timely and good decisions. We are doing what is necessary,” the prime minister added.

On Wednesday, the Czech government decided to impose sanctions on a trio of entities from a pro-Russian network that attempted to develop an influence operation with a serious impact on the security of the Czech Republic and the European Union. The group was also active in the European Parliament.

The government decided to include two individuals and one legal entity on the national sanctions list. Specifically, they are Viktor Volodymyrovych Medvedchuk, Artem Pavlovich Marčevský and the company Voice of Europe, s.r.o.
