According to Sky News, the incident took place on Friday morning local time at the Starfish Tobago resort in the south-western part of the island. The tourist was attacked by a white shark (Carcharhinus leucas), about three meters long, which lives in shallow warm waters and is one of the most dangerous shark species. It is not clear how the injured man got out of the water.
