The teachers received a Jan Ámos Comenius plaque, a commemorative letter, a flower and a gift from the city. The event was accompanied by moderator Radek Jirgl. There were also performances by popular singing students Ela Oher, Natália Jarošová, Sofia Hertelová, as well as Denise Martinec and Ema Ungrová from the TG Masaryk Elementary School of Arts in Chomutov.

Plaques were handed over to the award-winning teachers for the management of the statutory city of Chomutov by the mayor of Chomutov, JUDr. Marek Hrabáč together with assistants Mgr. Milan Märc and JUDr. Milan Petrilák.

First Deputy Mayor Milan Märc gave the ceremonial speech. “Let me welcome you all to these beautiful premises of one of the oldest early Gothic churches in Europe. We remember World Teachers’ Day in October, but for us today’s Ugly Wednesday is a reminder of March 28, the birthday of Jan Ámos Comenius. The day when we thank all teachers, pedagogues, educators and non-pedagogical workers, in short, everyone who participates in the education and upbringing of our next generations.”
