Greetings to all hockey fans! Traditionally, in April, it is the turn of the Women’s World Cup, which this time is hosted by the USA. The Czechs will appear in Group A, where they will face Finland, the USA, Canada and Switzerland. All teams from this group will advance to the quarterfinals, the first three teams from the second group B will advance. The Czech women’s hockey players are defending their bronze medals from the last championship, when they eliminated the Finns in the quarter-finals with a ratio of 2:1, then lost to the Americans 1:9 in the semi-finals, but in the subsequent match for the bronze they defeated the Swiss women 3:2. So the Finns have something to give back to the Czech players, at least as far as the world championship is concerned. The last time coach MacLeod’s players met the Suomi team was at the February EHT tournament in Liberec, when the Czechs lost 1:6 and the only scorer of the Czech team was Tereza Vanišová in the 49th minute. The Czechs would like to enter the tournament victorious. In the preparatory match for the World Cup, they lost 1:6 against the American women at the venue of the tournament.
