After a year, the cultural hall of the Vocational School of Production and Services in Vejprnická Street in Plzeň came to life again after a year with a competition for students of three-year courses, a chef, confectioner and gardener from vocational schools and colleges from all over the Czech Republic.

At the Vocational School of Production and Services in Vejprnická Street in Pilsen, another year of the competition for apprentices in the fields of chef, confectioner and gardener took place.

Plzeň – This is more or less a traditional event, as the chefs have competed here for the 17th time. The other two disciplines expanded the competition later, gardeners participated for the thirteenth time and confectioners participated for the third year.

A total of 19 two-member teams from seven regions participated in this year’s competition on Wednesday, April 17. She was to create a work with the common theme Stories from moss and fern, or the forest is our life. This theme offered two competition sub-themes for each of the branches, specifically, the confectioners worked on the Forest Banquet and Forest Cake tasks, the gardeners created a Tied bouquet for the lady of the forest + surprise and the Flowering Stump Fantasy, and the chefs created a Fruit or vegetable salad and 3x finger food, including a presentation on a set table.

Already in the first competition task, very imaginative and creative products began to emerge in the hands of the contestants. Right from the start, an expert jury consisting of three randomly drawn members from the ranks of pedagogues from the competing schools, supplemented by an expert from practice, also started its work. The jury continuously evaluated compliance with the assigned work procedures, compliance with hygienic conditions in the food industry, appearance, concept of the task, and of course the chefs and confectioners did not miss a tasting.

“The presented products, just like in previous years, confirmed the fact that the students and their teachers carefully prepared for the competition, including the initial idea of ​​how to approach the given topic. The results of their work and efforts were at a high aesthetic level. As in previous years, it has been confirmed that there are many students at vocational schools and training institutes who can work in their fields at a professional level,” Miroslav Kříž, deputy director for vocational training, praised the products of future chefs, confectioners and gardeners for organizing the school.

He could also be happy about the successes of the Pilsen apprentices. Teams from the Vocational School of Production and Services won one first and one second place.
