Prague, April 24, 2024 (PROTEXT) – In recent years, data centers have experienced a boom, which is influenced by new requirements for their increasing quality. This is also reflected by the Czech CONTEG Group, which is one of the important players on the world market. In recent years, the demand for energy-saving solutions has been growing due to data centers.

In recent years, energy savings have been an important topic in all fields across the economy, and it is the same in the data center business. Cooling is one of the basic components that customers demand from companies. “Requirements for savings are also increasing in small and medium-sized data centers, where units with pure compressor cooling were previously used. We can implement a two-fluid solution using indirect free cooling. Thanks to this, we will save up to 60 percent of electricity in the Czech Republic, in Nordic conditions it can be significantly more.” he says director and co-owner of CONTEG Group Vít Voláček.

Data center manufacturers have to look for energy savings even with large orders. “Because of this, we adapt the units using computer simulation of airflow. In this way, we reduce the power consumption of the fans, which leads to significant energy savings.” he says Vit Voláček.

CONTEG Group has become a strong European supplier of data centers in its 25 years of existence. This is evidenced by the fact that this Czech company won the tender for the complete supply of switchboards for data centers and the overall infrastructure of the NATO headquarters in Brussels. Although CONTEG Group does most of its business abroad, it also thinks about its Czech roots. In the Czech Republic, for example, it is behind the data center for the State Treasury or the Center for Shared Services, which was built in Zelenč near Prague for a quarter of a billion crowns.

Conteg benefits from custom building data centers. It can thus flexibly meet the specific requirements of customers for the dimensions of the data center or take into account the geographical differences of individual countries. While in Scandinavia the temperature conditions are very suitable for the operation of data centers, in the Middle East it is exactly the opposite. Data centers must therefore work even in temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius.

The core building block of the data center is the hot and cold aisle concept. The switchboards face each other with their front sides facing each other. The cold air is directed into the data center through the double floor, which serves as a transport path for the cold air.

“Ideally, the cold aisle should be 1.2 meters wide. There can then be a perforated panel in front of each cabinet, thanks to which cold air can be brought in front of the cabinet. A highly perforated door will ensure maximum efficiency.” adds Vít Voláček, stating that cooling is absolutely key for modern data centers, which must be able to work even in temperatures of around 50 degrees Celsius.
