The Slovak Theater in Uherské Hradiště is looking forward to a big financial injection from the Zlín Region. Indeed, the councilors granted support of 3 million crowns to the professional theater scene. Their dispatch still needs to be approved by the council at the end of April. Likewise, subsidies for other important cultural events.

Three million will also go to the Municipal Theater of Zlín. “Both cities have top-notch theater stages, and at the same time film festivals are held in them, which enjoy the favor of thousands of participants. Theatrical arts and filmmaking have a long tradition in the Zlín Region, which we are trying to maintain and develop through financial support,” said Zuzana Fišerová, Zlín Region Councilor for Culture, adding that the councilors approved requests for nearly 12 million crowns.

The regional subsidy will also please the organizer of the 50th anniversary Summer Film School in Uherské Hradiště, the region will send almost 1.8 million crowns to the Moravia River.

The Regional Film Fund already has some half a million, which, through the regional film office ZLÍN FILM OFFICE, systematically promotes the region as a “film friendly” area, consults with filmmakers about the possibilities of regional support, organizes professional events, presents filmmakers with regional artisans, locations and the Zlín Film School with an emphasis on on student engagement. The Post Bellum organization will also receive half a million for the continuation of the Memory of the Nation project, which has been presenting the stories of witnesses in the region since 2017.

The regional council will make a final decision on the support of the Slovak Theater and the Summer Film School on April 29.
