Viktoria celebrates progressing to the final of the cup, where Sparta is waiting

The Victorians have left no one in doubt that they are serious about their assault on the domestic cup trophy this year. In Wednesday’s semi-final of the MOL Cup, they clearly beat Zlín football players 3:0 at home.

“We played well in combination from the beginning. So that we could get the opponent down and succeed. We scored a quick goal, which always helps,” praised Pilsen coach Miroslav Koubek.

His wards listened to the wishes of their fans, who, after being eliminated from the European Cup, remade one of the chants: “We all want the final! Come and sing with us, Pilsen will get there.”

The job was done and Pilsen’s Doosan Arena will see one more big match this season. Prague’s Sparta will come to the final of the MOL Cup, it should be played on May 22 from 18.00.

“We lost the trophy in the league, so now we are concentrating on the second one,” added the Viktoria Plzeň coach.

But all that is yet to come, now Pilsen is celebrating the promotion to the finals, in which the Victorians will make their appearance after three years. In May 2021, they lost 0:1 at home to Slavia, when they played without the suspended Havel from the 54th minute and used a stitched power play.

Now comes the second rival from Prague. The Victorians earned promotion with a clear win against Zlín. Already in the fifth minute, the referee made a sharp tackle on Červo, the action continued and Chorý put the home side in the lead after Souaré’s cross – 1:0.

In the 22nd minute, Šulc collided with Chorý, but goalkeeper Dostál caught his shot. Then Kalvach tried it inaccurately from afar. In the 27th minute, Šulc sent Kopić into a chance, but he shot over in a clear chance.

After half an hour of play, Červ went solo, reached for a shot behind the goal and the ball fluttered into the net – 2:0. The guests showed themselves only in the set-up, when Kolář headed wide.

In the second half, it was not better from Zlín. On the contrary, Chorý hit the post in the 51st minute and seven minutes later he made it 3:0 with his second goal.

Then the Pilsen fans celebrated the final. And the bonus will be added if Victoria manages to keep the third place in FORTUNA:LIZE. This will have a certain 3rd preliminary round of the Europa League.
