The contemporary art exhibition, whose works by eighty artists respond to burning world topics, is called Group Therapy in English. It is a kind of dialogue and confrontation of artworks from the growing collections of the Prague Capital Gallery and Deutsche Telekom. In more than eighty works by forty-six contemporary artists, he reflects on current social issues such as threats to democracy, the rise of authoritarian regimes, intolerance towards minorities, foreigners and people with different opinions, apathy and indifference to the climate crisis, terrorism and wars.

The name of the new exhibition Gallery of the capital city of Prague is derived from the exhibited work of the artist Eva Koćátková. In addition to her, other Czech and foreign artists also exhibit in the exhibition Lenka Glisníková, Daniel Balabán, Bosnian artist Šejla Kamerić, Croatian multimedia creator Igor Grubić or Ukrainian painter Lesia Khomenko.

Exhibition Group Therapy, which can be visited at Dom U Kamenného zvonu on Old Town Square from April 26 to August 11, 2024, brings works both from the home’s Prague gallery and also from the collection Art Collection Telekom. This collection is particularly inspiring because it brings a set of works from a territory that was connected by the Eastern Bloc and thus had a slightly different reality. “In 2010, we founded the Art Collection Telekom, which focuses on contemporary art from Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe. Through Art Collection Telekom, we want to support artists from the region and contribute to an open, communicative culture that is important for mutual understanding across Europe.” supplies Antje HundhausenVice President Brand Experience, Deutsche Telekom.

The exposition is divided into several thematic areas. One of the rooms focuses on the fragility of democracy and the power of manipulation and authoritarian regimes. Here he opens a painting called Something is… 2 od Daniel Balabán. The different position of women in Europe is shown by portrait photographs that give the impression of a lifestyle.

The speed at which technology is developing and the challenges it brings are reflected in the works Lenka Glisníková. In her sculptures, the artist questions the current changes in people’s lifestyles that occur as a result of unregulated technological progress. In the same room we can also find a statue Anna Hulačová called Agro-Kosmo, depicting an astronaut growing nutrients even outside of planet Earth. Photographs depicting man’s impact on nature are also related to the environment and its care.

The exhibition closes with works referring to mental health, the necessity of self-care, but also of society as a whole. One of them is the work Group Therapy by a Czech artist Eva Koćátkováwhich this year represents the Czech Republic at the Venice Biennale.
