The third year of Prague Art Week 24 will once again present the best of Prague’s art galleries and museums. The opening of the festival will take place on Thursday, September 8, at the Center for Contemporary Art DOX together with the opening of the exhibition of one of the most famous Czech painters, Josef Bolf. It will be followed by a four-day dynamic program that will take place from Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th September in more than three dozen selected Prague institutions and spaces dedicated to art. All events in the Prague Art Week program are accessible to the general public free of charge on designated days and times.

For the third time, the Prague Art Week 24 festival will start the autumn art season with a varied program of a number of Prague’s most renowned museums and art institutions, private collections, selected project spaces, art studios and numerous galleries, which will present the local art scene, but also host artists and galleries from abroad. The extensive festival program brings visitors the most diverse forms of contemporary art, from intimate painting exhibitions in galleries to large-scale sculptural realizations in public spaces to live performances. Visitors can look forward to, for example, Josef Bolf’s new solo exhibition at the Center for Contemporary Art DOX, and (international) art lovers will also appreciate the opportunity to see the KAFKAesque exhibition here, which reflects the world-famous work of Prague native Franz Kafka and his poetics in contemporary visual art. The first comprehensive presentation of the work of the writer and photographer, also of Prague origin, Lucia Moholy, entitled Lucia Moholy: Exposures, will be on view at the Kunsthalle Praha. One of the world’s most successful Czech artists of the young generation, Vojtěch Kovařík, will be presented for the first time in Prague with a large solo exhibition at Museu Kampa.

What can you look forward to? “This year, PAW24 is once again preparing an exhibition program in a non-traditional location! In the program of the festival, which we will publish during June, an invitation to the newly renovated building in the very center of Prague will appear. Here you will see a unique exhibition project dedicated to the presentation of the youngest generation of artists, the PAW Young Selection, which is being prepared by the organizers in cooperation with the Kodl Gallery. Another highlight of the program outside the gallery space will be the exhibition of one of the most interesting Czech private collections, which will come to life in an unusual environment in a very non-traditional way,” says festival director Lenka Bakešová on behalf of the organizers.

A program of lectures and debates in the Superstudio will once again be part of the art week. This time, the accompanying program will be focused on the field of creative education and will bear the subtitle EDUcare. It will take place at the DOX Center for Contemporary Art, which has been intensively and long-term dedicated to this area and which will have a significant role in shaping it. Another accompanying program will also be available in the National Gallery Prague, in the Great Hall of the Trade Fair Palace and in other places where the Prague Biennale of Contemporary Art will take place, which this year will focus on the relationship between the countryside and the city and the related meaning and purpose of human work. The festival will also include VIP events and educational guided tours allowing the public to discover the diversity of Prague’s art scene. All events in the Prague Art Week program are accessible to the general public free of charge on designated days and times.
