Criminalists from the National Center against Organized Crime (NCOZ) delayed the explosion of a warehouse in the ammunition complex in Vrbtice in Złonsk, which killed two people in 2014. The police consider it proven that the bombings were carried out by members of the Russian military intelligence agency GRU. They wanted to take a day’s worth of ammunition to the area where Russia had conducted military operations. Because the suspect was moving in Russia, which refused to cooperate with the Czech police, the criminologists could not establish their criminal record. OnwebsiteNCOZ editor Ji Maznek stated this to the police today. The procedure was also approved by the head of state, shared onweb pagesspoke of the Regional State Representative in Brno Hynek Olma.

In its decision, NCOZ stated that Russian military intelligence had caused the explosion and death of Czech military personnel, including that it was not an isolated action, but part of a long-term diversionary operation by Russian military intelligence on the land of the European Union and Ukraine, Maznek said.

According to the editor of NCOZ, Russian military intelligence had the means to cause the explosions. Because of this, the people drank until they left immediately. According to police reports, the intelligence agency had detailed information about the stored goods, their movement and the end user. According to the criminologists of the unit, the perpetrators were destined to carry out diversionary operations abroad.

According to Olma, the warehouses were planned to be visited by people acting under the names of Nikolay Popa and Ruslan Tabarov. They were later identified as GRU agents Alexander Mikin and Anatoly Epigu, who are suspected of poisoning former Russian agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury, England in 2018.

However, according to Mazenko, the police have some information about the movement of individual GRU units in the Czech Republic. “One can only assume how the wheels were filled by individual soldiers located in Russia and the surrounding countries, or how many other soldiers of the Russian armed forces and their collaborators drowned in the flow,” said the editor of NCOZ. According to him, the criminologist cannot get the information because the Russian authorities have refused to fulfill the Czech request for international first aid. They attributed it to the fact that it “could damage the sovereignty, public thanks and harm the interests of the Russian Federation”.

“The lower court found that the decision of the police body is, in accordance with the first law, the only possible way to terminate this criminal woman, who in the given case is in the balance,” said Olma.

Warehouse slo 16 in Vrbtice exploded on 16 January 2014, another warehouse slo 12 then on 3 December of the same year. Both warehouses were rented by the Ostrava company Imex Group. Ammunition stored in other warehouses was taken from Vrbtice. In addition to the death of two people, according to the police, the explosions caused damage worth a billion crowns. The discovery of a Russian secret service agent involved in 2021 caused a diplomatic row with Russia. Czech Republic and Russia have each expelled several female embassy workers.
