The town hall in Tachov introduced a new way of informing local Ukrainians. In a city with eleven thousand permanent residents, it is estimated that more than four thousand of them live. They are often workers in industrial zones or war refugees. The Tachov management set up a new Ukrainian page for them in the Munipolis application. Ukrainians can thus receive practical information about life in the city and other news directly on their mobile phones or computers. “Ukrainians can find here who interprets for them in Tachov, what kind of kindergartens and schools we have, which organizations help Ukrainians and the like,” enumerates Blažena Smilová, who supplies the Ukrainian side as a coordinator for the integration of foreigners.

Ukrainians learn about the possibility of downloading an application with information to their mobile phone from leaflets, at Czech language courses, from employers or accommodation providers. And what is the motivation of the city management for launching this service? Integration. “We would not like any segregated groups to form here. We want local Ukrainians to be valid citizens of the city and contribute to its running. And since integration cannot work without communication, we want to get closer to the people of Ukraine with the new application, in order to get them information about what’s going on in the city, but also about their rights and responsibilities,” says Deputy Mayor of Tachova Vendula Machová.

The application launched by the city of Tachov is a pilot project within the Czech Republic. It is therefore covered by a subsidy.
