The Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc (MFO) will offer its listeners nine concert series in the upcoming season. Among them will be large orchestral concerts, multi-genre projects, programs for young listeners and chamber concerts. The novelty of the 79th season will be piano recitals, MFO representatives told journalists today. The opening concert, conducted by chief conductor Zsolt Hamar, will take place on September 26 and will pay tribute to the Czechs who stunned America.

“The Moravian Philharmonic’s new concert season will really offer programs for all generations and genre-specific groups of listeners. We will offer traditional large orchestral concerts, chamber concerts, we will have educational programs for children as well as crossover, multi-genre concerts. The biggest novelty of this season is the new series of R piano recitals, when intimate piano evenings will take place in the Reduta.” said MFO director Jonáš Harman.

According to dramaturg Ivana Kalina Tabakova, among the guest conductors will be, for example, the famous Austrian maestro Martin Sieghart, the Norwegian conductor of Czech origin Stefan Veselka, or conductors who have greatly influenced the history of the orchestra to date, whether it is the Swiss Christian Knüsel or the Brno native Jakub Klecker. “Foreign soloists of international renown will be performed by Romanian cellist Andrei Ionita, Australian-born violinist Daniel Dodds, and pianists Nicolas Namoradze and Rei Nakamura,” added the dramaturg.

The main orchestral series A will offer the best of classical music. Under the baton of chief conductor Hamar, compositions from Mozart to Beethoven through works of early and mature romanticism will be heard. The R concert series includes five intimate evenings of piano recitals. Friday concerts in row D will offer mainly compositions of the 20th century. The P – Patriot series, which are concerts for Olomouc, will not be missing either. Those interested will also find traditional multi-genre concerts in the program. Listeners can look forward to the Little Prince with Jan Cina or the lullabies of Tomáš Klus.

Dramaturgie also thought of the K concert series, which are chamber concerts in the attractive setting of the reconstructed Red Church. The MFO program also includes four concerts in the Classics Within Reach series performed by the youngest professionals in the field. The traditional Sunday matinee will be intended for parents to spend time with their children, and for parents-to-be, the NR series will continue in the form of harmonious, relaxing musical evenings. Last season’s novelty, a musical meeting in cooperation with the Olomouc City Library, will also continue. Four projects will bring the world of artists and music closer to those interested in the Philharmonic.

Next year, the MFO is awaiting a gradual process of institutional merger with the Moravian Theater Olomouc, which is planned by their founder, the city of Olomouc. However, according to Deputy Mayor Viktor Tichák (Pirates), this process will not affect the ordinary viewer or the program offer in any way.
