In an article entitled “The Real Role of Peter Pavel in the Czech Munitions Initiative”, Best quotes an author named Jurij Švec, who, according to him, personally knows the arms dealers who found the ammunition now destined for Ukraine in the world. Švec is of Ukrainian origin and served as a high-ranking KGB intelligence officer during the Soviet era. Now he has been living in the United States for many years, has American citizenship and fully supports Ukraine in its efforts to defend itself from Russian aggression.

“This initiative was discussed last week in a Russian-language analysis on YouTube by Yuri Shvets, a former KGB officer who is now an American citizen and a big supporter of Ukraine. He is said to know the arms dealers who found the grenades personally, and Pavel played no role in it at all. He only got an opportunity to strengthen his political authority, as Švec stated. It’s sad, but if what Švec claimed on YouTube about President Petr Pavel’s munitions initiative for Ukraine is true, it means Pavel is a walking disinformation campaign. According to Šveca, Pavel had nothing to do with the search for grenades, but was used to legalize the deals of volunteers apparently connected to the intelligence services, and thus got the opportunity to strengthen his political authority. To a large extent, the arms market is controlled by the intelligence services, Švec added, but the Czech Republic was able to find a significant amount of ammunition out of nowhere,” wrote Best (HERE and HERE)

According to him, there is no guarantee that the whole action will come to a successful end and that the promised hundreds of thousands of pieces of ammunition will actually be obtained by the Ukrainians for use in the fight. It is said that it is also possible that the Russians will start attacking supplies of military equipment. “It may happen that the Russians start interfering with trains with these goods. If it is said that the first deliveries are to arrive at the end of May and the beginning of June, the situation can change a lot by then,” he explains to ParlamentníListy.cz.

“I have been following the Swede’s output for a long time, and he is a person who supports Ukraine one hundred percent, but also does not accept some controversial issues, such as corruption and other things. He stands behind Ukraine, but when he sees something wrong, he is not afraid to point it out. He also says that he personally knows people who are looking for ammunition for the so-called Czech initiative in the world, and he says he knows that Petr Pavel has nothing to do with it and had nothing to do with it. At the same time, he has nothing against Pavel helping Ukraine, quite the opposite. But he doesn’t want the initiative to turn out to be a scam,” says the observer.

If everything turns out as presented by the Czech government, the Czech initiative will end up being a great success and helping Ukraine. “However, since Švec, whom I quoted, began to discuss this topic in detail, the situation has changed and there are many doubts. Yes, we can say that this is just one person saying this and he has not presented any tangible evidence to support his claims, but he is very erudite, knows what he is talking about and is obviously well connected,” points out Best.

“We can assume that the whole event is not taking place as it is presented to us. During his visit to BIS, President Pavel spoke about the fact that the opponents are presenting us with a false reality and because of this society is divided. But in the case of this ammunition initiative, we are apparently also being presented with a false reality. In my opinion, it is possible to say that the whole event is Peter Pavel’s little munitions masquerade. It cannot be as they present it to us, because otherwise all the doubts mentioned would not arise. It’s obviously not a fair game, and we’ll see how it develops,” concludes Erik Best for ParlamentníListy.cz.
