Honda continues preparations for the 2026 season, from which it will be the supplier of power units for Aston Martin.

Although Honda initially announced that it would say goodbye to F1 as an engine supplier after the 2021 season, it eventually reconsidered its plans.

It first committed to supplying power units to Red Bull and RB (formerly AlphaTauri) until 2025, and then decided to stay in F1 beyond the start of the 2026 season, when a new generation of engines will take over. Let us recall that these drive units will use 50 percent of electrical energy from recuperation systems, while the remaining 50 percent of power will be provided by a classic internal combustion engine.

However, from 2026, the Japanese automaker will no longer cooperate with teams owned by Red Bull, but with Aston Martin, which currently uses engines from Mercedes.

In relation to this, Honda has now established a new company in the UK, which will have its own factory in Britain, where Aston Martin is also based.

“The new company was established primarily to carry out maintenance and preparation of our power units after races. The establishment of HRC UK will also support the partnership with the Aston Martin team,” Honda Racing (HRC) boss Koji Watanabe explained in a press statement.
