Messi on the end of his career: When the time comes, I will take that step

--

“I am very self-critical. I know when I’m playing well and when I’m playing badly,” Messi told MBC’s Big Time podcast. “The moment I see that I can no longer perform like this, I don’t enjoy the matches so much and I can’t help my teammates, I will stop,” added the celebrated Argentine.

His fans can rest easy for now, the desire for success is still strong in him. “If I feel good, I want to compete because that’s what I love and what I can do,” assured the player who shone mainly in Barcelona.

He is not afraid of the end of his career. “When I feel that it is time to take this step, I will take it. And I won’t think about age at the same time,” Messi mentioned.

A football genius with ten on his back is, of course, a phenomenon. He needs several display cases for all the cups he has won. Just think: the World Cup title, eight Ballon d’Ors, four Champions League winners’ trophies, ten Spanish titles, two French titles, a triumph at the Copa América and other team and individual trophies.

He doesn’t care what happens next. “I have not yet thought about what I will do when I finish my career. I want to enjoy every day, every moment, without thinking about life after football,” said Messi, who will celebrate his thirty-seventh birthday in June.
