Fenin’s new beginning. After alcohol treatment, she wants to become a better role model for her daughter

--

“After three months, I am leaving the alcohol treatment center in Červený Dvor, which has been a temporary home for me since the beginning of the year. It helped me clear my head and sort out my priorities. I want to be a better role model for my daughter than I have been so far,” Fenin said.

The Teplice native also admitted that former teammates from the national team encouraged him to solve a long-term problem. “I would like to thank Milan Baroš and Tomáš Ujfaluši, who helped me understand that seeking professional help does not have to be a shame, and stood by me the whole time.”

The now thirty-six-year-old Fenin, among other things, also cost the demon alcohol a brighter professional career. He concluded this in autumn 2017 in Varnsdorf. Since then, he has alternated periods of trouble with efforts to make amends. On Easter 2018, he appeared drunk on the TIKI-TAKA show on O2 TV Sport, but at the beginning of the coronavirus crisis, he volunteered and helped the elderly.

That’s when it started to look like Fenin would cut Latin. Before long, he played 1.A class for Řeporyje, got married and had a daughter, Mia. He was even supposed to appear as a cage wrestler, but preparations for a fight with another former football player, Kevin Pannewitz, again disrupted the excesses and attitude of both main actors. “We thought they both had a huge desire to change. However, both of them had problems with it that were big enough for the project to go away,” said Oktagon MMA promoter Ondřej Novotný.

Last fall, neighbors also complained about Fenin. “He is often drunk, sleeping in his car in communal garages. He then vomits and faeces,” they described according to the Blesk newspaper. “I’m not stupid enough to piss in front of my own car,” Fenin defended himself.

Whatever was going on in the garage, Fenin now took a decisive step and tried to solve his alcohol problems by staying in a treatment center for three months. On top, he returns to football, he should start in the South Bohemian 1.A class for Kovářov. “After a personal meeting, I decided that we wanted to get him. He looked like he wanted to cut Latin, and he’s fine at the moment,” coach Filip Škoch told jcted.cz.

Fenin completed a whole series of fights on the green page. Let’s remember how in 2007, in the final of the U20 World Cup, he fought with the defense of the victorious Argentina, and even scored a goal.

Now it seems that he is determined to fight his addiction to alcohol. He has taken the first step, which is unmanageable for many.

“I am determined to go in the right direction,” reports Fenin. There’s nothing left but to keep our fingers crossed for him.
