The OKTAGON MMA organization made a big splash at the last tournament when they announced that they are going to the 55,000 to 60,000 capacity soccer stadium in Frankfurt in October. If the place were to be filled, the OKTAGON 62 tournament will go down as one of the biggest events in the history of MMA. In comparison, the biggest UFC tournament took place in Australia, where over 57,000 fans watched it. How much does OKTAGON have less than a week after the announcement of registrations?

Referee Goddard reviews his ending of the Procházka vs Pereira battle and has a reminder for the fans

“Would you believe it? We have already received more than 8,000 registrations for the OKTAGON 62 presale. Have you been putting off registering? Then it’s high time, because we’re working hard to give you the chance to secure your tickets with the best view 48 hours before the official sales start!” boasted OKTAGON on their German profile that they already have over 8,000 registrations roughly 4 days after the event was announced, which is a good sign.

At the same time, not a single match or name has been confirmed for the tournament, so fans are currently just looking for epic action. However, it is of course clear that management will try to embellish the starting lineup to the maximum, so it should be one of the best cards in the history of the organization. There is preliminary talk about a fight between Jungwirth vs Eckerlin and the start of big German stars, which will also be supplemented by well-known OKTAGON names, which together gives an attractive package.

The epic event has been in the works for two years

“When I looked back to the time when we were at the stadium for the first time, it was June 2022. We were there on a tour then. I had the feeling that at that time they didn’t trust us enough to sell something like that. Of course they let us have a look at the stadium, but the confidence was definitely not there. But also thanks to the fact that we sold out the Frankfurt Festhalle several times in a short period of time, OKTAGON has grown a lot in the city.

We got the green light in the fall of last year, and I think it had a little to do with the fact that we also managed to sell out the Lanxness Arena in Cologne. It was a signal to them at the time. Politics also influenced a lot, as MMA in Germany is still a topic that polarizes society. In the end, we managed to agree with the help of our friends from MMA Spirit, who have contacts,” Neruda told Sport.cz.

“In the whole two years that we were dealing with it, only Frankfurt came into consideration, and that for simple reasons. We feel at home there and it is also an indoor stadium, which is an important criterion. One can think of taking this or that stadium, but there is a big risk because of the weather. Frankfurt is an ideal choice in this regard.’

So the OKTAGON 62 tournament is not a recent idea, but it is a plan that has been in the works since the beginning of the German expansion, which has worked out perfectly for the organization. The proof is the sold-out hall in Cologne or the now sold-out events in Stuttgart or Frankfurt. So we will see how well the OKTAGON 62 tournament will be filled, which will certainly attract a lot of Czech fans, because Frankfurt is not that far away for Western and Central Bohemia.
