After relegation from the Chance League, the Znojmo club seeks to return to the Austrian ICEHL. The management of the Eagles is therefore currently working on a request for renewed entry into the local competition.

It’s 2009 – Znojmo sells the extra-league license to Kometa, leaves a number of key players to it, and heads one level lower.

It’s 2011 – The Eagles leave the Czech competitions and join the ambitious international project EBEL.

It’s 2020 – After nine seasons in Austria, Znojmo is making a comeback to the Czech Republic, but they have to start from the 2nd league.

It’s 2021 – The Eagles are changing their plans again, after the season canceled due to covid, which prevented their promotion to the Chance League, they once again signed up for competitions in nearby Austria.

But…

It’s 2022 – Znojmo lasted only one season in the ICEHL and now wants to play again in the Czech Republic, mainly for financial reasons. This time it seems for good.

He writes with April 2024 and in Znojmo everything is different again. The Eagles are relegated from the Chance League after an unsuccessful rookie season, but they will probably not appear in the third highest competition in the fall. For the third time, they want to expand the ICEHL, in which, in addition to the Austrian teams, teams from Slovenia and Italy also play.

A possible return to the ICEHL is related to a potential change in the ownership structure of the Eagles. An investment group led by former ice hockey player Radim Antonovic and Hynk Blaha is seeking to acquire property in the club. “The group is in close contact with the management of the city of Znojmo and negotiations are now underway with the management of the club,” the Eagles inform on their website.

“If all parties reach a common agreement, they are ready to seek re-entry into the ICEHL for the upcoming 2024/25 season,” Znojmo announces. .”

“If the effort to join the international competition does not come to a successful end, the Eagles in Znojmo will continue in the 2nd hockey league. In such a case, the club’s management will direct its efforts to ensure that entry into the ICEHL can take place in the next competitive year,” the South Moravian club outlined its plans for the future.
