The Czech representative is absent for the second time in a row, the last time Pavel Královec appeared at Euro 2016. Currently, no Czech referee belongs to the elite European refereeing groups that referee selected top matches.
Forty-one-year-old Tello is a relatively well-known figure even for European fans. He has been on the FIFA list since 2019, he whistled the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, including the quarter-final against Morocco – Portugal (1:0), after which, among other things, he got it from Ronaldo et al.
It is weathered by the harshest South American battles.

EURO 2024 in Germany
The European Football Championship will take place in ten German cities from June 14 to July 14, 2024. The Czech national team under the leadership of new coach Ivan Hašek will not be missing either, in the basic group F, the Czechs will face Portugal, Turkey and the advancing team from the March play-off.
Slovakian Ivan Kružliak is also present. “All the selected referees have repeatedly demonstrated performances that meet the strictest standards,” said UEFA Referees Committee Chairman Roberto Rosetti on the nomination.
Some of the nominees experienced a lot of explosive moments on the pitches in the past weeks. Swede Nyberg was the target of the anger of Slavists after Holeš’s expulsion in the match with AC Milan, and he also experienced difficult moments during the Arsenal – Bayern match. Also among the 20 video referees are the names that stirred emotions in the past weeks – Stuart Attwell and Tomasz Kwiatkowski. The losers claimed that Attwell, as VAR, denied them three penalties and also called him a Luton fan, with whom Nottingham is fighting for salvation.
Pole Kwiatkowski, for a change, in the November Champions League match between Paris St. Germain and Newcastle played a part in the fact that Marciniak blew the whistle for the home penalty, from which Kylian Mbappé equalized in the eighth minute of regulation to make it 1:1. Kwiatkowski was then withdrawn from the Champions League match between San Sebastian and Salzburg.
