The most popular push-button phone is back in the Czech Republic. Nokia 3310 returns in two colors and unchanged form – MobilMania.cz

The Nokia 3310 has become a legend, actually, more than once. For the first time in 2000, when the original model of a practically unbreakable “brick” with replaceable covers and inside with an addictive Snake game was introduced. More than 126 million units of the 3310 and its derivative sister, the 3330, were sold during the model’s life cycle, securing pride of place in the top twenty best-selling phones of all time.

And then came 2017 and the resurrection. A completely different time (smartphone) and a completely different market situation. The company that acquired the license to make phones under the Nokia brand needs to attract attention, and about a tenth of users who have never developed a taste for touch phones need a phone with buttons and at least a similar environment to which they were used to a long time ago.

That’s why the Nokia 3310 (2017) is coming to the market. Most other manufacturers have given up the production of push buttons altogether, the rest are nameless and often rather untrustworthy attempts by unknown importers. And so it’s no wonder that even 17 years after its original predecessor, the Nokia 3310 (2017) has become a legend in its own way. In appearance, it resembled the original, and in terms of functions, it did not differ much.

With the old microUSB only until the end of the year

Over the years, the modern manufacturer of Nokia, the company HMD Global, tried to come up with other “revived” mobile phones of the rich Finnish history, but it didn’t work so well. Either there was unnecessary experimentation or savings, and the bet on the initially promising-looking KaiOS platform for push-button phones, from which HMD later gave up entirely, did not work. The Nokia 3310 (2017) was thus still among the sought-after push-button models.

In the course of the last few years, however, the phone practically sold out and it didn’t look very promising that it would ever come back on sale. However, customer interest was great (and not only in the Czech Republic), so the modern Nokia 3310 (2017) started to be produced again and now it has finally made its way back to Czech stores. It’s only in two colors – red and dark blue – but it’s still her. The price hasn’t changed too much either, you can fit within 1500 CZK.

Seven years ago, there were slightly more colors of the Nokia 3310 (2017). Only red and dark blue are sold now

The seven years that have passed since the introduction of the renewed model are not exactly few in mobile history. And so today we are looking a bit cross-eyed at the antiquated microUSB connector, which can only be used in newly sold phones until the end of this year, and even simple 2G (GSM) connectivity will not please us. Or a message to HMD manufacturers: give the Nokia 3310 a USB-C connector and support for 4G networks, and you can sell it unchanged for another 10 years!
